October 30 is another big date in my calendar (there are so many BIG dates in my planner now. ..we celebrate everything because it is all hard earned). Addie is 17 months old today!! Here are some stats:
Weight: 18+ Pounds!
Height: Not sure - we go to the doctor next week and will find that out
Clothes: We are officially in age appropriate clothes!!! She's wearing 12 - 18 month shirts, but leaning towards the 18 month side of that range. I tried to put on a brand new 12 month shirt this morning, and it was too small to accommodate her Buddha belly and button! I swear the shirt looked so big in the store. ..
New Skills:
- Addie can now point out her mouth, ears and toes!
- She can walk with us just holding her hands now (we were have to help carry some of her weight and lift under her arms)!
- She's starting to try to move her legs in addition to her arms when she's on all fours. She can't quite figure it out, so she winds up rolling over, but we're getting there! I'm still hoping we're mobile in some way shape or form by Christmas. Come on Christmas Miracle!!!
- She is waving and saying "bye bye" simultaneously now! Great combination of skills!
- She can find a hidden item (shows she's figuring out object permanance) in a brown paper bag!
- We're still not a fan of food, so that's my biggest area of concern right now. She seems like she's regressing a little in that department, and we don't have very far to regress. Please pray something "clicks" soon.
- That her vision starts to improve with the increased patching time.
- Mobility!!!!!
- We're going into RSV season. ..please pray for a healthy winter!
A year ago, today, Addie came off of the ventilator for the last time during her NICU stay. Her last surgery in the NICU was late in the day on October 28, and she came off of the ventilator a day and a half later. She is not a fan of breathing on the vent (who can blame her!), so, with at least half a dozen nurses and at least one NP cheering her on, she took her first breath on her own post op in the early afternoon on the 30th. Just in time for Halloween!! Since her surgery was so close to Halloween, her sweet nurses dressed her up in a skeleton onsey on the 27th so she could particpate in her first Halloween.
